Southern Manufacturing & Electronics is undoubtedly one of the biggest, best and most inclusive engineering shows in the UK calendar. Since its beginnings as a regional event, it has grown into a nationwide show and now has a substantial influence across Europe and further afield, too.

Today, the annual industrial exhibition is the place for manufacturers to showcase their services and products — as well as new machinery, production equipment, components and production, assembly and tooling technology.

Customers from a wide range of industries — including automotive, aerospace and defence, packaging and logistics, industrial machinery and energy — can also expect to view the latest in production hardware, components, consumables and technology.

The event entered its third decade in 2018, which was celebrated with a move to its brand-new venue: the £35 million International Exhibition and Conference Centre development in Farnborough. In 2020, the show will once again be held at this 20,000m² state-of-the-art complex from Tuesday the 11th to Thursday the 13th of February.

Driving our plans forward

As the first major event in the UK exhibition calendar, Southern Manufacturing & Electronics gives manufacturers like EMS the chance to present their products and services to thousands of key industry buyers and decision-makers at the earliest opportunity.

In February 2019, we exhibited at the show for the first time to promote the fact we were (and still are!) one of the fastest-growing CEMs in the UK in terms of sales growth. We had also recently relocated and invested £1 million into new plant equipment — so, of course, we wanted to shout about that too.

This year, we are hoping to build on our reputation and develop new strategic opportunities with customers who are looking for a long-term partnership.

What’s more, in March 2018, the Plimsoll Analysis of our industry saw EMS hovering just inside the top 100 CEMs in the country. In March 2019, we placed 62nd; based on forecasted revenue, we will break into the top 60 UK CEMs by March 2020.

If we achieve all that we have planned and predicted for 2020 and 2021, then we will be set to break into the top 50 CEMs in the UK with revenue of circa £10 million. Exhibiting at the show will be a fantastic way to kickstart and propel our plans forward and to help us achieve this success.

Get to know the EMS team

Rob Moore and Jerry Charleston — our Sales Director and Sales Representative respectively — will be at the show for the full three days. They will also be supported by our Managing Director Jonathan Plummer on the 11th, our Operations Director Paul Stone on the 12th and our Quality Manager Robert Goodney on the 13th.

Everyone in the team is incredibly excited to meet with new customers and build on our existing partnerships at the show — as well as demonstrate what we can do and exactly why we’re one of the fastest-growing CEMs in the UK!

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics is a must-attend event for anyone involved in design, engineering production or procurement. It’s completely free to visit the show, and we’d be delighted to meet you there to talk about our services and discuss how we can help with your next electronics manufacturing project.
