Established as a test house in 1998 EMS entered the CEM market in 2000.  Since mid-2009 our on-going investment strategy has seen a string of investments and improvements including;


  • 5th November - Francesca Stockwell appointed as Business Development Manager.

  • 1st October - Robert Goodney appointed as Quality Manager.

  • June - order placed for second line, due for delivery late 2018.

  • 25th May - relocated to new facility, Fountain House South, Newbury.

  • 13th March - relocation to new facility confirmed.


  • Rob Moore appointed as Sales Manager

  • Jamie Robinson appointed as Production Manager.

  • Simon Whatley appointed as Stores Manager.

  • Assembly staff trained to IPC J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies).

  • MEK AOI offline data capture facility installed.


  • New Heller 1809 MKII Reflow Oven.

  • New Nutek Board Handling Equipment, including an all in one line loader/unloader.

  • New SolderStar reflow profiler.

  • Inspection operators certified to IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies).

  • Inspection operators certified to IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies).


  • Turnover breaks £3 million.

  • New MEK PowerSpector FDAz 650L CE 9 Camera in-line AOI machine.

  • New Trident ZDO PCB cleaning machine.


  • Turnover breaks £2 million.

  • Acquisition of NuStart, a Newbury based CEM with all employees and customers integrated into our existing Thatcham site and setup.


  • New DEK Horizon 03iX stencil printer.

  • A second, new Panasonic CM101-D pick and place machine, increase capacity to 50,000 components per hour.

  • Acquisition of Applied Assembly, a Southampton based cable assembly company.


  • ESD/Anti-Static floor throughout the SMT department.

  • New Panasonic CM101-D pick and place machines, with capability down to 01005" and up to 100 x 50 mm components, with capacity up to 25,000 components per hour.

  • New Manix TSC-1008 reflow oven.

  • Installation of new MRP system, Factory Master.


  • New Manix TSC-1008 reflow oven.

  • Installation of a completely new IT system, including servers and complete workstation refresh and introduction of a professional IT supplier.


  • Relocation to 5,700 sq ft facility in Thatcham, Berkshire.

  • Investment in cable assembly capabilities.

  • Acquisition of LAM Electronics, a Berkshire based CEM which added key customer opportunities and key staff members who are still with EMS today.

2008 & Earlier

  • Investment in Surface Mount Technolgy (SMT) assembly equipment.

  • In 2006 we were One of the first UK CEMs to invest to Lead Free wave soldering equipment.

  • In 2004 we relocated to a 2,400 sq ft facility which enabled the business to grow and expand.
